ABSTRACT
Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is classified under the title of “Eating Disorders” in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5 which is characterized by malnutrition, weight loss, loss of appetite, and reluctance on eating. Wide variety of findings can be found in physical and mental examination in this disorder and distinguishing from other eating disorders is important to establish the treatment plan. In this case report, an adolescent case with ARFID deepened after psychosocial stressor and admitted to our hospital with severe weight loss and vital risk due to nutritional deficiency is reported and the differential diagnosis and treatment process was discussed.
